The volunteer may also aid in the flow of skill building activities to further help students develop positive study skills (the volunteer will not have to prepare the activity, just simply monitor the students and help in the execution). We especially need volunteers who can assist students with geometry or Spanish language.

Would you be willing to cook a meal for 25 on a Saturday or Sunday and bring it to Camp? Or could you gather a group of friends and do it together? This volunteer opportunity gives you a chance to meet campers and serve people directly. It can be done be an individual or a group. It is a limited time commitment as it is a one time project. If you wish to make this a family event, and want to bring young children with you, please ensure you have enough adults to continually supervise them while they are at Camp.

Brittany Moore: A Snapshot of Excellence

NAME: BRITTANY MOORE, 16
SCHOOL: HENRY FORD ACADEMY, SOPHOMORE, 4.0 GPA
CHURCH: GREATER MITCHELL TEMPLE CHURCH  OF GOD IN CHRIST
PASTOR: BISHOP JOHN HENRY SHEARD

"Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm." Daniel 6:3, KJV

Brittany Moore is an overachieving member of the National Honor Society, having maintained a 4.0 GPA since fifth grade. Recognizing her strive for excellence, a teacher nominated Brittany, an aspiring lawyer, to attend the Bill of Rights Institute Constitutional Academy, a weeklong summer program in Washington, D.C. for students interested in government, law, politics, teaching or philosophy. Courtesy of Ford Motor Company, Brittany will attend the all-expense-paid program in July to study the Constitution alongside some of the other brightest and best high school students across the nation.

Pressing Toward the Mark

Brittany will complete a practicum during her junior and senior years in high school to further refine her career aspirations. Upon graduation, Brittany plans to continue her studies at the elite Harvard University, following the footsteps of President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, to pursue a degree in law.

A Shameless Praiser

Brittany's family is her motivation. During her younger years, whenever she said "I can't", her father quoted Philippians 4:13, reminding her that she could. Now, she is a testament to the popular bible verse and can be found expressing her gratitude through song or dance at her local church, Greater Mitchell Temple Church of God in Christ.

"God has done so much for me!" she exclaimed during an interview with Triumph Magazine. "It's an obligation to praise the Lord. For me to sit in church and not get up and do a dance for the Lord - that’s selfish of me! How dare I not give God praise!"

Brittany's Message to Other Youth

"Keep your head up! Failing is not an option! Giving up is not an option! No matter how bad it looks, you can overcome anything. But, you have to keep God first in all that you do, if you want to succeed."

Job well done, Brittany. You are God's brightest and best!
